Management Board
Number Eight is a local charity which has been operating extremely successfully in the town since July 2018 and is managed by a Board of locally based Trustees. It currently has nine Trustees/Directors who (between them) have an extensive knowledge and experience in order that they are able to supply the guidance needed to management and staff and to make any necessary business decisions to ensure the successful growth and continuity.
The structure of the Board of Directors is finely balanced to ensure that the necessary skills are available to develop the strategy and maintain good financial control and sound business practice balanced with social ethics.
The Board was chaired by Richard Hughes, former Chief Executive Officer of Tamworth Co-operative Society from Number Eights inception until his death in the summer of 2025.
Ian Perkins became chairperson at the AGM in November 2025 and continues to lead our board members who manage with enthusiasm, knowledge and extensive experience.
Further information can be supplied by the Chairperson Ian Perkins or the Chief Executive Officer, Dawn Candy, who will be only too willing to talk to interested parties or to show guests around the homes whilst maintaining the privacy of residents. Please contact them via our Contact Us page.
Governance
The trustees meet on at least 6 occasions a year when they receive reports from the Executive and whatever information and advice they need to enable them to make appropriate strategic and financial decisions to ensure that the organisation meets its legal and contractual obligations and meets its social aims.
It also ensures that the organisation has the appropriate risk and financial strategies in place to ensure that there are sufficient safeguards in place to take the charity forward as a going concern.
More detailed information regarding the structure of the Charity, financial performance and returns and our Trustees can be seen at the Charity Commission website.
